History of Rotaract
Rotaract was founded in 1968 by Rotary International as a Rotary-sponsored program for young adults aged 18 and above. It was established to address the needs of young professionals and students who wanted to make a positive impact in their communities.
The first Rotaract club was formed at the University of North Carolina in the United States. As word spread about the program's success, Rotaract clubs began to emerge worldwide. Today, Rotaract boasts thousands of clubs in over 180 countries and geographical areas, making it one of the largest global networks of young leaders.
Rotaract clubs are guided by the same core values as Rotary International: service, leadership, diversity, and fellowship. They engage in a wide range of community service projects, including environmental initiatives, educational programs, healthcare campaigns, and poverty alleviation efforts.
Rotaract also offers young adults unique opportunities for personal and professional development. Members have the chance to enhance their leadership skills, expand their networks, and gain valuable experiences that help shape their future careers.
Throughout its history, Rotaract has played a pivotal role in fostering cultural understanding, promoting peace and goodwill, and empowering young leaders to create lasting change. By providing a platform for young adults to connect, learn, and take action, Rotaract continues to inspire and equip the next generation of global citizens.
