History

History of Rotaract

Rotaract was established in 1968 by Rotary International as a program for young adults to engage in community service and leadership development. The first Rotaract club was chartered in Miami, Florida, USA. The name "Rotaract" is derived from "Rotary in Action," reflecting its mission to engage young people in meaningful projects and activities.

Since its inception, Rotaract has grown into a global movement with thousands of clubs in over 180 countries. It provides a platform for university students and young professionals to develop leadership skills, network with peers, and contribute to their communities through service projects. Rotaract clubs operate with the guidance and support of local Rotary clubs, fostering a collaborative relationship between the two organizations.

Rotaract's focus on community service, professional development, and international understanding aligns with the values of Rotary International. Over the decades, Rotaract has empowered countless young leaders to make a positive impact locally and globally, embodying the spirit of service and fellowship that is central to Rotary's mission.
